PORTAL LINK: Nigerians Can Now Report Stolen Vehicles Online
According to the press release by the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters Abuja, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, mipra, on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, informed the general public that the former Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, had successfully launched the Stolen Vehicle Report Portal and commissioned a digitalized Central Motor Registry (CMR) Command Centre at the Force Headquarters Abuja.
This newly digitalized Central Motor Registry Command Centre will serve as an online avenue for the general public who have vehicles to report or provide details of their stolen and yet-to-be-recovered vehicles that have occurred from as far back as January 1, 2018 to date.
Constitutionally, one of the functions of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is the “protection of properties of the citizens,” and with this new development, the platform will help the Force in putting in place proactive measures preventing crime, especially car theft, fast-tracking investigations, and ensuring lawful prosecution.
Also, it will help process motor vehicle information to support police operations and efforts toward enhancing national security in the country.
Therefore, the Inspector-General of Police has notified all Nigerians and other residents in the country to start uploading their vehicles’ information on the CMR website with effect from December 7, 2022, as a security step to prevent their vehicles from being stolen and re-registered online.
The portal link for reporting your stolen vehicle online or registering your motor vehicle details on the digitalized Central Motor Registry is https://reportcmr.npf.gov.ng.
As a result of this quest by the Nigeria Police Force to protect the properties of Nigerians from theft, all Nigerians can now report stolen vehicles or register motor vehicle information online from the comfort of their respective homes.
